About

The St. Thomas College Herbarium was established after the starting of the Intermediate Course in 1952 and was formerly accredited with Index Herbariorum in January 2020.

Digitization

The digitization process of the STC herbarium was started on 08 September 2021 with the help of MSc Botany students and Research scholars of department.

Explorations

These field explorations and collection trips enable students to understand the ecology and environment of elevation gradients, familiarize the floral components and conservation strategies.

Botanical Illustration

We, the STC Herbarium often trained researchers and students of graduate and post graduate botany to illustrate botanical specimens scientifically and support their career as botanical artist.

Digital Flora

Flora is all the plant life present in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring native plants. The St. Thomas‘ College [Autonomous] Thrissur campus is bestowed with floral diversity consists of 285 species including 139 herbs, 58 shrubs, 23 climbers, 2 parasites, 2 epiphytes and 61 trees.
